War photographer Dickey Chapelle took the pictures of war no one would take. The darling of the marines, Chapelle landed with them at Iwo Jima and Okinawa when she was only 24 years old. Her pictures showed the human toll of war and most were censored by the United States government. Killed by a landmine in Vietnam in 1965 she never stopped trying to depict the sacrifice and courage of her beloved marines.
