A polite lad from Macclesfield, Ian Curtis marries his school sweetheart at age nineteen. He holds down a job in a government employment office, all the while trying for recognition with his new band Joy Division. After their first gig in London, Ian is diagnosed with epilepsy. Soon the illness begins to fuel amazing performances whilst causing Ian great stress and embarrassment offstage. He is subsequently torn between his family obligations and the dawn of a new life beyond Macclesfield. Ian Curtis finally imploded in a conflagration of personal and professional turmoil, only to become a lasting legend.
